The verts / Technovert

What is a technovert?

Turns on. Most at ease through a screen.

TECHNOVERT tee, close up of the word

The short answer

A technovert is most at ease through a screen. They connect through messages, games, the group chat and the thread, as easily as they would in person.

"Techno" comes from the Greek techne, meaning craft or skill, and "vert" comes from the Latin vertere, to turn. A technovert is someone turned on. It is our own take. It is not a psychology term and it is not a diagnosis.

A light checklist

You might be a technovert if…

  • You are funnier in text than out loud.
  • The group chat is where your friendships actually happen.
  • You can be close to someone you have never met in person.
  • You say the real thing in a message, and it comes out right the first time.

This is a game, not a personality test. If it fits, wear it. If it doesn’t, there are six other verts. Take the quiz.

Vert lifestyle

Life as a technovert

  • Social battery: Charges through a screen. Drains in rooms that need constant eye contact. Recharge: a good thread, a game, a long voice note.
  • How to wear the tee: Wear it on a video call. The shirt is the first thing people see.
  • Gift ideas: A game for two, a good pair of headphones or a long-distance gift.
  • At your party: Make sure there is a way to join by chat, and the wifi password is easy to find.
  • At work: Put it in writing. A good thread beats a long meeting.
