“Belonging … doesn’t require us to change who we are; it requires us to be who we are.”

Seven things that turn us

Voices
“There’s zero correlation between being the best talker and having the best ideas.”
“Solitude matters, and for some people it is the air that they breathe.”
“We have another need as creatures and as human beings, which is to be authentic.”
“You need to be really clear who “us” is.”
“I didn’t want to change my personality to offer a canned response that didn’t feel like me.”
Know a line that fits? A vert you’ve heard someone own out loud?

A smaller lens
Knowing what turns you doesn’t box you in. It can ease the things you’ve been hard on yourself about, and point you toward the people who turn the way you do.
Find your vert. See what shifts.

Why I made these
I put a word on a shirt and wore it out. People started asking what it meant, and every time, it turned into a real conversation instead of small talk.
One morning at school drop-off I told another parent about it. He lit up. “That’s me! Now my life makes a lot more sense.”
That is why WHATVERT? exists. A word can help you understand yourself, or someone else. A shirt gets the conversation started.

Questions
It is a play on introvert, extrovert, ambivert, otrovert, omnivert, subvert and technovert. The ending "vert" is Latin for "turn," so the question is which way you turn. There are seven, and each has a shirt.
Introvert: turns inward, recharges alone. Extrovert: turns outward, gets energy from people. Ambivert: turns both ways, fits in with whoever is in the room. Otrovert: stands a little outside the group and sees how it all works. Omnivert: turns every way, quiet one day and loud the next. Subvert: turns upside down and flips the usual script. Technovert: turns on, most at ease through a screen. Full definitions.
No. There is a tee for each type. Wear the one that fits you, or the one you want people to ask about.
