Subvert tee
Turns upside down.

The short answer
A subvert flips the script. The quiet one is the life of the party. The loud one turns up at the library. They act the opposite of what the room expects.
"Subvert" is an old word that means to overturn. It comes from the Latin subvertere: "sub" (under) and "vert" (turn). WHATVERT? uses it for a person who turns the usual expectation upside down. It is our own take. It is not a psychology term and it is not a diagnosis.
A light checklist
This is a game, not a personality test. If it fits, wear it. If it doesn’t, there are six other verts. Take the quiz.

Questions

To overturn or undermine something. In English it usually refers to an idea, a rule or an expectation.
Not exactly. A rebel pushes against the rules. A subvert flips the expectation, often with a smile.
