About
WHATVERT? is a small clothing brand with one idea: a shirt can start a real conversation.

Where it starts
There are seven ways to turn.
The ending "vert" comes from a Latin word that means "to turn." Introverts turn inward. Extroverts turn outward. Ambiverts turn both ways. Otroverts stand at the edge, a little outside the group, and see how it all fits. Omniverts turn every way, subverts turn things upside down, and technoverts turn on through a screen.
Most people only know a few of those words. We made a shirt for every one, and put the question on it: which way do you turn?
In other words
“Belonging … doesn’t require us to change who we are; it requires us to be who we are.”
Brené Brown · The Gifts of Imperfection
Why a shirt
A shirt with a word people half know gets strangers to ask about it. That is the whole idea.
Someone reads your shirt and asks what it means. You have a one-line answer, and a better chat than the weather.
Asking which way someone turns gets past small talk fast. People like answering it.
About yourself, or the person in front of you. The answer is often a surprise.
